A new commissioner assumed his responsibilities for the District 3 Public Utility District position on Jan. 10. Tim Cournyer will represent the southern and eastern parts of Lewis County.

Cournyer was raised in east Lewis County and graduated from Morton High School, a press release from the District said. He continued his education at Centralia College and Central Washington University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in accounting degree.

Cournyer served as the Chief Financial Officer at Morton General Hospital for more than 12 years and has been working as the Chief Executive Office for Forks General Hospital for the last two years.

He lives in Mossyrock with his wife and enjoys spending time with his family as well as fishing, hunting and being outdoors.

He was elected in November to the position for a six-year term, replacing former Commissioner Charles TenPas and joins sitting Commissioners Dean Dahlin and Ben Kostick.
