This year, the Lewis County Chapter of Washington Realtors collected more than 600 pounds of warm clothing and blankets during October and November.

“It is just a measure for the realtors’ association to give back to the community and to provide for people who may not even have a home,” said Diane Weiner, Chehalis Valley Realty broker.

Weiner has chaired the event for the last two years, and noted that she has seen it grow.

“I think there was greater participation (this year),” Weiner said. “I know, for myself, it was an opportunity to get to know my neighbors. I told them about the program. It was a good way to spread the word and get to know people in our community.”

Academy Mortgage, Adolphsen Real Estate, Century 21 Lund Realtors, John L. Scott, Lewis County Title, Chehalis Valley Realty, Prime Lending, Realty World, Title Guaranty, Windermere and the Chehalis Eagles all participated.

The Lewis County Chapter of Washington Realtors distributed the clothing and blankets to Cascade Mental Health, Salvation Army and Lewis County Gospel Mission.

“I thought it was extremely successful and I look forward to it happening again next year,” Weiner said.
