Lewis County staff plan to celebrate the adoptions of four children from foster care on Friday, Nov. 20 — National Adoption Day.

Lewis County Superior and Juvenile courts and the Division of Children and Family plan to celebrate the occasion with a reception to follow the finalizations of the adoptions at 2 p.m. Nov. 20, on the first floor of the Lewis County Law and Justice Center.

The celebration is part of a national effort to draw attention to the 100,000 foster children in the United States waiting for adoption.

Superior Court Judge James Lawler will finalize the adoptions. Judges Richard Brosey and Nelson Hunt, Court Commissioner Tracy Mitchell, Superior Court Administrator Susie Parker, Juvenile Court Administrator Holli Jo Spanski, attorneys and stakeholders will be invited to attend.

More than 10,000 children live in foster care in Washington.

National Adoption Day is sponsored by the Alliance for Children’s Rights, Casey Family Services, Children Action Network, Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and the Freddie Mac Foundation.
