Lewis County PUD Gets Clean Audit on Financial Statements

An independent audit of financial statements performed by an accounting firm and accepted by the Washington State Auditor’s Office issued no findings against Lewis County PUD.

“(D)uring our audit we did not identify any deficiencies in internal control that we consider to be material weaknesses,” according to a report from Moss Adams LLP, a certified public accounting firm, regarding the PUD’s internal controls over financial reporting.

Moss Adams conducted the independent audit on the district’s financial statements for 2015 and 2016.

The audit found no instances of noncompliance with state law in financial statements.

The state auditor’s office reviewed the CPA’s reports and accepted them in lieu of doing its own audit.

“The State Auditor’s Office did not audit the accompanying financial statements and, accordingly, we do not express opinions on those financial statements,” according to a Dec. 14 memo.

The auditor’s office published the CPA’s report on its website.

Moss Adams concluded that the district’s financial statements fairly represent the financial position of the Lewis County PUD electric system and the Cowlitz Falls System.
