Lewis County Housing Market Stays Hot in May

The housing market in Lewis County remains hot with the median price, number of homes on the market and number of pending and closed sales increasing compared to May 2016 and April 2017.

Last month, 193 homes were put on the market, compared to 164 last May and 156 in April 2017.

The number of closed home sales is up as well, with 102 being closed in May.

In May 2016, 98 homes closed and in April 2017, 96 homes closed. The only area where May 2017 is lower compared to last year is with the number of sales pending with 137 compared to 177 in May 2016.

Last month, the average sale price of a home in Lewis County was $212,193 and the median price was $186,000.

Other counties throughout Western Washington are experiencing the same boom.

“May was a grand slam month for housing activity,” said J. Lennox Scott, chairman and CEO of John L. Scott Real Estate, in a press release. “We finally saw new inventory come on the market in May, and although we had a slight delay in the timing, the spring Puget Sound housing market is in full swing and as intense and frenzied as it has ever been.

“New inventory outpaced pending sales,” said Scott. “This translated into more opportunities for buyers, but with such a quick action market, they still had to act fast to win a home. We’re seeing explosive sales, severe inventory shortages, intense competition, and multiple offer situations.”
