Lewis County Extends Agreement With Butler Amusements for Five Years at SWW Fair

Butler Amusements will continue to provide carnival activities that include games, rides and food concessions at the Southwest Washington Fair after the Board of Lewis County Commissioners on Monday approved a new five-year agreement for the services.

The contract spans from 2018 through 2022.

The only change in the contract is new language that addresses general safety items. Each ride must be inspected by a certified Department of Labor and Industries employee and must display a current operating permit.

Steve Walton, director of central services, said last year’s carnival had a record year, which amounted to 20 percent more revenue than the previous year. About $175,000 was generated for the county.

“It was a good year and we hope to continue that trend,” said Walton, who as central services director also oversees the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds.
