After 20 months of construction, the new townhouses known as Jackson Villa II are now available for rent.
The townhouses are situated south of Chehalis city limits and are one of Lewis County’s largest housing starts in recent years. Located within Chehalis’ residential urban growth area, the 1,200-square-foot townhouses are quickly filling up.
In all there are 35 units, all of which have three bedrooms, two and a half baths, and a single car garage. Constructed in a townhouse concept, the kitchen and living areas are located downstairs, while the bedrooms are upstairs.
Currently, 18 of the units are ready for occupation, and the remainder of the units should be finished by the end of July.
Fred Lofgren, owner of T.J. Guyer Inc., said finishing touches need to be placed on the other units, including paint touch-ups and flooring work. The company is the property manager for the building, which is owned by Lakewood Investors LLC, of Herndon, Virginia.
So far, 11 of the units have been spoken for and five have been moved into.
“The owner really has taken an interest in our community to build and maintain high-quality housing,” Lofgren said. “It’s a real positive thing for our community.”
In an earlier interview with The Chronicle, Lofgren said the complex is good news for those who want the rental markets and local housing to stabilize.
The complex is the largest housing community to be built since 2011, when an apartment community owned by Catholic Housing Services of Washington was constructed in north Centralia.
Jackson Villa II, at 2381 Jackson Highway, is built on a 4.3-acre lot adjacent to the Jackson Villa duplexes located at 3571 Jackson Highway. Lofgren said because of the large footprint of the area, the townhouses provide a “really nice and open” space.with a yard and private back deck.
Rent for the units is $1,025, with a $1,000 security deposit and a $50 application fee.
Pets 25 pounds and under are allowed, and water, sewer and gas are included in the rent.
