Former Winlock Mayor Lonnie J. Dowell is leading the primary for Winlock City Council position 3 after the first votes were counted Tuesday with 41 percent of the vote, or 96 total votes. 

In second place is Jodie Curtis, the incumbent, with 32.9 percent, or 77 votes, and in third is Glen Cook, with 26.7 percent, or 61 votes. No write-in candidates were counted. 

The top two candidates will advance to the November general election. The ballot count will be updated Wednesday afternoon.
