County Officials Financially Prepare for Upcoming Southwest Washington Fair

As the Southwest Washington Fair approaches, officials are preparing to make change, literally, with dollars and cents.

The Board of County Commissioners approved two finance-related items for the fair at its Monday meeting.

Commissioners OK’d the transfer of $1,000 to the fair office, which will be followed by a second transfer of $25,000 to be used to make change during the fair.

The first transfer to be deposited by July 1 is used during advance ticket sales for the fair and its concerts.

The second is requested to be deposited by Aug. 14 to be used to make change for gate sales, parking and other needs during the fair.

The board also authorized $100,000 to the Southwest Washington Fair Office to be used to restock ATM machines located on the grounds during the fair.

For every transaction, the fair gets 75 cents, resulting in annual revenue of about $1,000.

The financial transactions are all done annually and will be returned to the Lewis County Treasurer’s Office by Sept. 30.

“We’re looking forward to a successful fair,” said Michael Strozyk, Lewis County Central Services director.
