The Pacific Northwest Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of David Judd, will be presenting the annual “Soaring Soloists” free concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 5, Centralia College’s Corbet Theatre.

The concert will feature three local musicians accompanied by the orchestra. Allen Lesser, violin, will play “Romance in F minor” by Dvorak; Sarah Gilligan, harp, will play “Salzedo Tango” by Carlos Salzedo; and Andrew Pak, piano, will play “Piano Concerto No. 17 2nd Movement” by Mozart.

The orchestra will also perform “Fanfare for the Common Man” by Aaron Copland, “Hungarian Dance No. 5 and 6” by Brahms, “Finale Symphony No. 5” by Shostakovich and “A Whole lot of Symphony Themes” arranged by Douglas Wagner.

This will be David Judd's final concert as director of the PNCO. After seven years leading the orchestra, and retirement from a long career as a public school music teacher in June, he is “looking forward to a more open schedule for travel and family time.”

Doors to the auditorium will open at 7 p.m.
