A two-year contract that supplies funding for shelter and services to homeless people was approved by the Board of Lewis County Commissioners on Monday.

The consolidated homeless grant agreement is provided by the Washington State Department of Commerce. The contract provides funding for services in Lewis County that include emergency shelter and rapid rehousing. It also includes services to families and individuals who are either at risk or are experiencing homelessness.

The county’s Public Health and Social Services department is the lead agency for the contract, which then subcontracts to local service providers in the county.

The contract totaled $1,282,175, which was a slight decrease from the amount the department received last biennium, according to director Danette York.

The contract is valid from July 1 to June 31, 2019.
