Give Local is an annual three-week crowdfunding campaign for online giving in Thurston, Mason and Lewis Counties from the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound.

“Give Local is part of our effort to grow community philanthropy,” said Norma Schuiteman, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound in a press release. “Our goals for Give Local are to inspire more local giving, while helping build awareness and support for nonprofits in the South Puget Sound.”

The campaign features 75 local nonprofit organizations from Oct. 31 until Nov. 20. Community Foundation partnered with Dawkins Charitable Trust and is offering a $100,000 incentive fund. The press release used the following example: If a featured nonprofit receives 5 percent of the total donations during Give Local, the same nonprofit receives 5 percent of the $100,000 incentive fund.

All of the funds raised from Give Local go to the nonprofits.

“In our post-event surveys last year we heard — overwhelmingly — that donors and nonprofits loved the opportunity to participate in Give Local and be part of a community-wide movement to celebrate giving,” said Schuiteman in a press release. “We also heard that the incentive grant from the Dawkins Charitable Trust helped inspire people to give. We hope everyone who is able will give local this year and join us in building stronger, more vibrant communities for all.”
