United Way Plans Annual Golf Tournament

The 28th annual United Way of Lewis County Golf Tournament will be Friday at Riverside Golf Club, Chehalis.

The golfing gets under way at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start in a scramble format.

Entry fee is $125 per person or $500 per team. Besides the golf, the entry fee includes a hot dog lunch, cigar bar, barbecue dinner and prizes.

Saturday, Sept. 15

Providence Centralia Plans Wellness Event

Healthier Together, a wellness event and fun walk/run for all ages sponsored by Providence Centralia Hospital, will be held Saturday, Sept. 15.

The event will be 8-11 a.m. in the Providence Professional Building parking lot, 1010 Scheuber Road, Centralia.

Registration for the 5k walk/run will be 8-8:45 a.m., with the first 300 registrants getting a free T-shirt. All participants will receive a ticket for a door prize drawing. Stretching and running advice from Providence physical therapists will be 8:45-9 a.m. The event will start at 9.

The Kids Dash, a shorter run for kids up to age 12, will be at 10:30 a.m.

Advance registration for the runs may be made at ProvRegister.org. They are being organized by the Run Amok Irish Running Club.

Also offered at the wellness event will be health screenings for cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure, as well as health tips.

Artists to Display Works at Annual ARTrails Studio Tour

West Lewis County artists will be displaying their works during the annual ARTrails of Southwest Washington Studio Tour Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15-16 and Sept. 22-23.

The artwork displays will range from Littlerock in Thurston County to Vader.

A list of participating artists and the display locations can be found at ARTrailsofSWW.org.

Tour participants can identify the artists they want to visit, or just pick a starting point and see all of them. Signs will point to the art display locations.

Artwork will be available for sale at individual studios and at the Exhibition Gallery at the Centralia Train Depot.

Some studios will provide the opportunity to work in the artist’s medium. Among those are Karen McInturff (handmade felt) at 801 K St. Centralia, and JoAnne Watson (bird silhouette painting) at 194 Summerside Drive, also Centralia.
