The Chehalis School District Board of Directors has been named Board of the Year by the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA).
The Chehalis School District Board of Directors has been named Board of the Year by the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA). The Board of the Year award is given to one Board of Distinction from each of three categories depending on district enrollment size.
Superintendent Ed Rothlin said the award is a recognition of the board’s dedication to the Student Achievement Initiative to help prepare students for career and college.
“We’ve made a lot of progress in Chehalis toward preparation for every graduate. For example, 90 percent of our graduating class of 2018 was admitted to post-high school college, technical or vocational schools,” Rothlin said in a press release. “The initiative also focuses on improving instructional practices in the classroom and providing modern facilities and technology to enhance those instructional practices.”
“It was a humbling experience to accept this award on behalf of such great people I work with on this board,” said Board Vice-President Vicki Daniels. “Kudos to our entire district, community partners and donors. We couldn’t have accomplished this without you.”
Board President Joe Clark said, “The staff of the Chehalis School District, and the work that goes on in our buildings each and every day, deserves recognition. Their work is expanding the future potential for Chehalis students.”
The Chehalis Board was recognized in a ceremony during the WSSDA Annual Conference on Nov. 15.
