The Lewis County Coroner’s Office is working to identify a person found in a burning vehicle Saturday morning, according to the Chehalis Police Department.
Chehalis police and fire personnel responded at about 1 a.m. Saturday to the 1900 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue to a report of a possible vehicle fire.
Officers arrived and found the vehicle, a 1992 Honda Accord with Washington license plates, was fully involved in flames. They were unable to get close enough to determine if anyone was inside the car.
Firefighters extinguished the car, at which point officers found a deceased person inside.
The cause and manner of the individual’s death are under investigation.
