Centralia Councilor John Elmore Running Unopposed

John Elmore, who is currently serving an at large position on the Centralia City Council, left his seat and is running unopposed in the general election for a District 2 position.

The District 2 position opened after Councilor Matt Trent announced earlier this year that he was not going to seek another term.

Elmore, who has lived in Centralia for more than 30 years, was appointed to the City Council last December after Edna Fund left to serve on the Lewis County Commission.

“The at-large position was only good for another year and a half,” Elmore said. “I live over in (District 2) and have since 1979.”

Elmore, a member of the Keep Our Pool group and former Historic Preservation Commission member, said his main focus as a city councilor is economic development.

“Whatever we can do to make us a better community is my priority,” Elmore said. “I know we have some projects coming down the pike and I think it is important for us to market ourselves.”
