Children’s Museum Opens in Twin City Town Center

The Discover! Children’s Museum Opens today at 1461 NW Louisiana Ave. in the Twin Cities Town Center, Chehalis. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m., with a noon opening ceremony. Admission is $4 per person.

Regular hours will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.

The pilot museum will be open for six months to study its feasibility before moving to a permanent residence. Exhibits will include hands-on experiences such as a paleontology fossil dig, veterinarian clinic and a Lego building exhibit.

Seminary Hill Group to Hold Annual Meeting

The Friends of the Seminary Hill Natural Area will hold their annual meeting from 1-4 p.m. today at the Centralia Timberland Library meeting room.

The group, formed 30 years ago to protect the wooded hillside east of downtown, is holding the public meeting to encourage community members to participate in its slate of projects to maintain, enjoy and better appreciate the century-old urban forest.

Workshop to Teach How        to Play Guitar in a Day

Marlene Hutchinson is returning to Centralia College today to offer her “Learn to Play Guitar in a Day!” workshop.

The session will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuition is $79, plus a $30 materials fee for a book and tuner.

“Learn to Play Guitar in a Day!” is a one-day workshop for busy adults who would like to learn to play guitar but don’t have time for weekly lessons. Students will learn basic chords and simple strumming and picking patterns, play familiar songs, and learn music theory, tuning, guitar care, tablature, music resources and more.

Participants must provide their own acoustic guitar. Registration may be made by calling 736-9391, ext.483 or 427, or by visiting http://www.centralia.edu/academics/cont-ed/.

Hutchinson’s workshop recently aired on a PBS station in San Diego.

 

Eagles to Host       Valentine’s Bazaar

The Chehalis Eagles 1550 will be having a Valentine’s Bazaar 10 a.m.-4 p.m. today in the basement of the Eagles Museum.  

Set up time will be at 8 a.m. Tables are available to rent for $15 each. Proceeds from table rental will go to the Chehalis Eagles 1550 Auxiliary Heart Fund.

The museum is located at 1993 S. Market Blvd.

Dance Production Planned for Roxy Theater

“Kaleidoscope: An Afternoon of Diverse Dance” is being held at  2 p.m. Sunday at the Roxy Theater, Morton.

The event will feature the Eatonville Performance Group, from the Eatonville Dance Center, and Bennyroyce Dance Productions, a New York City-based contemporary dance production team that creates and produces innovative, visionary and compelling contemporary dance.

“Kaleidoscope” is open to students and the community. FeTickets are available at the door. Suggested donation is $8. Proceeds will be divided between Bennyroyce Dance Productions and the Fire Mountain Arts Council.

The event is sponsored by the Centralia College East Organization of Students and the Fire Mountain Arts Council.
