New Graduation Requirements for Centralia High School Approved

The Centralia School District Board of Directors has approved new graduation requirements for the class of 2019, increasing the credit load for students from 22 to 24 credits.

In its Wednesday meeting, the board accepted the changes, which will increase the credit requirement for science classes from two to three credits, add an additional credit in arts classes and increase world language to two credits, which currently are not required for graduation.

The additional credits in art and world language can be substituted for a credit that aligns with a student’s “high school and beyond plan,” otherwise known as Personalized Pathway Requirements.

The plan helps students meet specific educational or post-secondary career goals.
