Centralia Boy Recognized for Saving His Father’s Life

On Monday the Lewis County Commission recognized a 5-year-old Centralia boy who is credited with saving his father’s life.

Quincy James Hall called 911 when his father, Chris Hall, went into an epileptic seizure on June 24. The only other member of the family who was home was Quincy’s 3-year-old brother Owen Hall.

Quincy said he was scared when his father fell ill, but he knew to call 911 — “My mommy and daddy taught me,” he said.

Quincy’s mother, Trisha Teigen, said she taught the boys to call the emergency line if Chris fell ill while she was away at work.

“I was really proud he called 911,” she said. “(The seizures) had never happened when I wasn’t home. So I was shocked he went through with it and stayed calm.”

When he made the call, Quincy was unable to provide an address, but dispatchers were able to use satellite coordinates and database technology to find the house. In the meantime, Quincy consoled his father.

The Lewis County Commission and the 911 Communications Division awarded Quincy with a certificate of appreciation.
