New Lewis County PUD Outage Map Gives Real-Time Data

Stormy weather caused several small power outages in Lewis County over the weekend, but mostly spared Centralia.

“We had no major outages from the wind over the weekend,” said M.L. Norton, Centralia City Light general manager. “Our tree trimming program seems to be holding out well.”

In areas served by Lewis County PUD 1, several outages were reported over the weekend. On Sunday morning, crews were working on an outage affecting about 650 residents in Boistfort, and Woodland Estates and Steck Urgent Care in the Chehalis area.

Lewis County experienced wind gusts as high as 38 miles per hour Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

During outage events, customers can now get information about current issues at the PUD’s new Outage WebMap.

The feature of the PUD’s website became active late last week and uses the utility’s Outage Management and Geographic Information Systems.

The map displays a symbol for each outage. The symbol’s size and color show how many customers are affected.

The map shows real-time data and is available at https://www.lcpud.org/outages-safety/power-outages/.
