New Centralia College President Bob Mohrbacher, who began in his role on July 1, will be paid an annual salary of $195,000, with periodic increases possible with the approval of the Board of Trustees, according to information requested by The Chronicle.

Mohrbacher was appointed to the position on July 1, and the appointment will run for a period of three years until June 30, 2018, with extensions possible, according to his contract. His predecessor, Robert Frost, had an annual salary of $187,000, according to the college.

Mohrbacher’s contract also says he will receive paid vacation leave at the rate of two days per month up to a maximum of 24 days per year.

Moving expenses, retirement benefit options, health care, term life and disability insurance benefits are also included.

The contract states Mohrbacher will be reimbursed for reasonable business expenses while performing his duties, including travel and per diem allowances.

His duties, as listed in the contract, state Mohrbacher will act as the chief executive officer of the college, and is responsible for all subordinate personnel. He must keep the Board of Trustees informed of significant issues affecting the college, and is required to manage the entire programs of activities at the college.

Mohrbacher will receive an annual performance evaluation by the board, at which point the board can consider extending the contract up to one year.

The board of trustees have the right to terminate the contract by providing a written notice to the president with the payment of liquidated damages equivalent to six months of the president’s then applicable base salary, according to the contract.

If the board decides to terminate the employment agreement, the president will have the opportunity for an informal hearing before the board. A written request must be submitted within 10 calendar days after receiving the written notice of termination, or the right to the hearing is waived.

Mohrbacher replaces former Centralia College interim president Jim Walton, who stepped into the role after the termination of Robert Frost in December of last year.
