Centralia College has a new Board of Trustees member after Gov. Jay Inslee selected Mark Scheibmeir to serve on the board effective immediately.

Scheibmeir replaces Joe Dolezal, who has served as a trustee since 2007. Dolezal’s term ended in September, but he remained in the position until a replacement was chosen.

“We are very excited to welcome Mark Scheibmeir to the Centralia College Board of Trustees,” Centralia College President Bob Mohrbacher said in a press release. “Obviously, there are big shoes to fill, but Mark is a familiar face on campus and in the community. He’s been a great supporter of Centralia College and I know he’s going to continue to serve our students and the college well. I'm very happy he’s coming on board.”

Scheibmeir has served on the Centralia College Foundation board since 1995, according to the press release. He is the assistant city attorney for Chehalis. He’s also the hearing examiner for Lewis and Cowlitz counties, Kelso and Olympia.

Scheibmeir is a member of the Lewis County and federal bar associations, the Washington Municipal Attorneys Association and the Washington Association of Hearing Examiners.

He is the past president and longtime member of the Chehalis Rotary and is a founding member of the Lewis County Trails Association. He’s also co-chaired the Centralia College Campaign from 2008 to 2010, receiving the Trailblazer Award from the Centralia College Foundation in 2011.

Scheibmeir has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas in business administration and a juris doctorate degree from the University of Washington.

“It is a great honor to be selected by the governor for this position,” Scheibmeir said. “I look forward to serving the college in this new capacity and doing everything I can to support Centralia College and its incredible students.”

Board of trustee members in the state’s two-year college system serve five-year terms.
