Two people accused of running from police after stealing hundreds of dollars worth of baby formula from a Centralia store were arrested Wednesday afternoon in Kelso, according to the Centralia Police Department.

Jacob R. Wright, 34, of Federal Way, was charged Thursday with attempting to elude a police vehicle. He was granted $100,000 bail and is in custody in the Lewis County Jail.

Rachel L. Wright, 35, of Des Moines, was charged with possession of heroin and first-degree criminal impersonation. According to the Centralia Police Department, each was also referred to prosecutors on suspicion of the theft of the formula.

At 3:54 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a theft of $700 of baby formula from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. The suspect allegedly fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.

The Washington State Patrol began a pursuit after locating the vehicle on southbound Interstate 5. As a trooper pulled in behind the vehicle, driven by Wright, the vehicle reportedly began to accelerate. The trooper activated the vehicle’s lights and siren and Wright’s vehicle accelerated to approximately 120 miles per hour, according to court documents.

Wright allegedly made unsafe lane changes, nearly hit another vehicle and passed traffic on the right. The state patrol eventually discontinued the pursuit.

At 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, the Kelso Police Department got a tip that the suspects were in their jurisdiction, according to a new release from the Centralia Police Department.

The tipster reportedly recognized the suspects from a social media post made by Centralia police.

Kelso police officers located the suspects and identified them as Jacob and Rachel Wright and arrested the pair, according to the Centralia Police Department.

According to court documents, Wright gave police another person’s name instead of her own when first arrested.
