A fire that completely destroyed a truck early Saturday morning is under investigation, according to the Riverside Fire Authority.

At 2 a.m. on Saturday, Riverside Fire Authority crews responded to a report of a fire in the 2000 block of Little Hanaford Road in Centralia.

When they arrived, firefighters saw that a 2004 Ford F-250 parked on the shoulder of the road was on fire.

Crews quickly extinguished the fire. Deputies from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office also arrived due to the “suspicious nature of the circumstances surrounding the fire,” according to the RFA.

The truck’s owner, who lived in the area, responded to the scene and told deputies that he left the truck on the side of the road at about 12:30 a.m. when he got a flat tire on the way home from work. He reported that he planned to get the tire fixed in the morning, according to the RFA.

The truck was a total loss, according to the RFA. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
