Sirens: Dog Left in Hot Car for Over 30 Minutes; 10-Year-Old Booked for Hitting Person With Rock

Motorcyclist Hurt in Collision

• At 3:59 p.m. Monday, police responded to a collision in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue. Police learned a motorist was pulling out of a private driveway, failed to yield to oncoming traffic, and struck the motorcycle. The motorcycle rider suffered minor injuries. The at-fault driver was issued an infraction for failing to yield from a private drive.

 

Burglary

• At 11:35 p.m. Monday, a burglary was reported in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue. A cellphone was stolen from a fenced, locked area.

 

Suspect Issued Summons for Driving Without License

• At 1:31 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to First and J streets and issued a summons to a 34-year-old Centralia resident on suspicion of no valid operator’s license.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle With Shattered Window Reported

• At 12:01 p.m. Monday, a caller in the 700 block of South Market Boulevard reported a suspicious vehicle with smashed windows left sitting for a full day.

 

Trespassers Spotted on Railroad Property

• At 12:08 p.m. Monday, a caller in the 600 block of Northwest Prindle Street reported two male trespassers on railroad property.

 

Protection Order Violation Reported

• At 12:33 p.m. Monday, a caller in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported being followed around a parking lot by an individual they have a protection order against.

 

Fight Reported

• At 2:53 p.m. Monday, police were notified of a fight between two male teens in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street. The caller then reported that the teens were separating.

 

Theft

• At 3:58 p.m. Monday, a theft of batteries was reported in the 10 block of Northeast Median Street. The caller advised the theft may have occurred any time in the last two weeks.

 

Assault Suspect Booked

• At 8:06 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 700 block of Southwest 19th Street and arrested Michael T. McGuire, 43, of Chehalis on suspicion of second-degree assault — domestic violence. McGuire allegedly punched and choked a female subject.

 

Phone Threats Reported

• At 10:13 a.m. Tuesday, a caller in the 200 block of Northwest State Street reported threats made over the phone.

 

Suspect Booked for Disorderly Conduct

• At 1:36 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and arrested James J. Hickson, 55, of Reno, Nevada on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

 

Hit and Run

• At 1:46 p.m. Tuesday, a hit and run was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.

 

Dog Left in Hot Car for Over 30 Minutes

• At 3:57 p.m. Tuesday, a caller in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported a dog had been left in a car in the parking lot for about 30 minutes. The windows were cracked, but the dog was panting, the caller said.

 

Neighbor Sprays Water Into Caller’s Open Window

• At 4:51 p.m. Tuesday, a caller in the 500 block of Northwest Ohio Avenue reported their neighbor was spraying water through an open window in the caller’s house, getting the floor wet.

 

Criminal Trespass Reported

• At 5:52 p.m. Tuesday, police were notified of a person in a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard who was not welcome there anymore.

• At 6:11 p.m. Tuesday, a caller said two male subjects were told to move along in the 1700 block of North National Avenue, but they were still lingering around.

 

Boy Referred for Malicious Mischief

• At 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street and referred a 14-year-old Chehalis boy on suspicion of third-degree malicious mischief.

 

10-Year-Old Booked for Hitting Person with Rock

• At 7:48 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 900 block of Southwest 20th Street and arrested a 10-year-old Chehalis boy on suspicion of fourth-degree assault — domestic violence for allegedly striking someone with a rock.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 242 inmates, with 208 in general population, 32 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center and two on work release. Of general population inmates, 178 were men and 30 were women and of WERC inmates, 26 were men and six were women. A total of 33 inmates were booked through contracts with agencies outside Lewis County.
