Flaming household garbage and asphalt shingles presented a challenge to fire crews responding Thursday morning to a rail-car fire.

At 7:10 a.m. on Thursday, Riverside Fire Authority crews responded to a report of a rail fire in a rail yard in the 1700 block of Central Boulevard in Centralia.

When they arrived, rail yard staff directed them to a garbage container that was on fire in a flatbed rail car, according to the RFA.

Firefighters and railyard employees moved the car to a side rail where the container was lowered to ground level and was extinguished.

Garbage in the container included household garbage and asphalt shingles, which took time to extinguish, according to the RFA.

No adjacent property was damaged and no injuries were reported.
