‘Medical Issue’ Causes Crash East of Pe Ell, Driver Cited

A semi truck crashed into a ditch on state Route 6 about 10 miles east of Pe Ell Wednesday afternoon after its driver suffered a medical event, according to a report from the Washington State Patrol.

The single-vehicle crash was reported at 4:51 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of state Route 6 and River Road. A blue 2001 Peterbilt semi was heading west when it failed to negotiate a curve and drove of the road, hitting several trees and coming to rest in a ditch.

The driver, Shaun L. Neal, 49, of Livingston, Montana, was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital for a medical issue, but was not injured in the crash, according to the state patrol.

The medical issues was the cause of the crash, according to the state patrol. Livingston was cited on suspicion of second-degree negligent driving.

Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be involved in the incident.
