Firefighters battled a barn fire that threatened to spread to nearby pasture land and trees Thursday night.

Crews received a 911 call shortly after 8:30 p.m. that a barn in the 1200 block of Lincoln Creek Road in Centralia was on fire, according to a press release from the Riverside Fire Authority.

A volunteer firefighter who arrived at the scene shortly after crews were dispatched found the blaze had fully engulfed the barn.

The Department of Natural Resources sent personnel to the scene as the fire threatened its lands.

The light winds prevented most of the flaming pieces of roof that flew off the barn from sparking vegetation and trees.

Crews from RFA, Lewis County Fire District 6, West Thurston Fire Authority and Grays Harbor Fire District 1 hauled water to the blaze using tender trucks.

The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.

No one was injured due to the fire.

The barn, which contained hay and some equipment, was a total loss. It was not insured.
