Quick action by the Riverside Fire Authority prevented a raging fire from consuming nearby structures Tuesday night in Centralia.
Firefighters responded to reports of the blaze at 609 S. Gold St. at 9:24 p.m. They arrived to find a motorhome fully involved in flames and already more than halfway destroyed by the fire.
“The first arriving engine company deployed a hose line and was able to quickly bring the fire under control and extinguished in under 10 minutes.,” the Riverside Fire Authority said in a press release. “The structure directly to the south of the fire sustained some thermal damage to the exterior.”
Firefighters were able to keep the blaze from severely damaging any of the exposed structures adjacent to the fire.
Two women were found in the front yard of the residence, and they said no one was in the motorhome and no one had been injured by the fire.
The value of the destroyed motorhome was estimated at $25,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
In addition to the RFA, the Chehalis Fire Department and the Centralia Police Department also responded.
