Chehalis Dental Care to Provide Free Dentistry for Up to 70 People

For its third year in the Mint City, Chehalis Dental Care will again provide a free day of dentistry care to those who need it on Friday, May 5.

The event, “Dentistry From the Heart,” will provide 70 people with the choice of either getting a filling, a cleaning or an extraction.

“It just helps our community for those who can’t or are unable to get dental care from anyone else,” Reanna Gillespie, office manager, said.

Although the event is fairly new to the community, Dr. Richard Downing previously held the event for 10 years in Shelton before taking over the Chehalis dental practice in July 2014.

Gillespie said anyone who needs dental care is able to come to the event. The dental practice does not verify an individual’s income. The only requirement is the patient has to be at least 18 years of age.

Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.

The registration table will open at 7 a.m., and the around 20 volunteers will begin seeing patients at 8 a.m. Gillespie said last year there was already a line forming around 5:30 a.m.

“If people are interested they should be here and be early,” she said.

Dentistry From the Heart is a nonprofit organization based in Florida that helps dentists around the world host their own free dental care events.

During the dental practice’s first event, more than 50 people were treated, with a total of $24,000 worth of treatment.

Chehalis Dental Care is located at 68 SW 13th St. For more information, go online to chehalisdentalcare.com, email info@chehalisdentalcare.com, or call the office at 360-748-1833.
