The smallest of margins ended up being the difference for the Eagles to leave their home gymnasium with a 39-38 triumph over the Wolves in a Tuesday night dual.

Both sides ended up with six bonus point wins and one decision victory apiece. The one-point victory by Elma was decided at 113-pounds. Black Hills’ Aiden Labouff finished off a 19-3 technical fall win in 5 minutes, 39 seconds. Instead of a pin, the Wolves left that match with five points and trailing by one.

Elma’s Rusty Johnson secured the victory at 157 with a pin in 2:34. The Wolves saw Jude Bender (132), Porter Neklason (150) and Ammon Combs (175) all record falls. Roberto Rivera-Jesus picked up a gritty 14-8 win at 106 for Black Hills over Jordan Meadows, the eighth ranked wrestler in Class 1A.

Rainier cruises by Rochester

Of the nine contested bouts on Monday night, the Mountaineers picked up seven wins and all of them pins in a 60-18 stomping of the Warriors in a non-league dual at Rochester High School.

Rochester kickstarted the contest with a pin from Christopher Tartios at 175-pounds, then Rainier ran off seven straight wins – three of them forfeits – to put the dual out of reach.

Maddox Rogers (157) won the other contested match for the Warriors. For the Mountaineers, Evan Delaney (106), Jayden Alegarbes (132), Brayden Walker (144), Liam Hentze (150) and Zander Peck (165) recorded falls.
