The Washington Acoustic Music Association (WAMA) is hosting a concert and guitar workshop by world-renowned fingerstyle guitarist Richard Smith at the Hope Grange in Winlock.
The concert and workshop is at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 3.
The concert starts at 7 p.m. and the workshop will precede that in the afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m.
Following the guitar workshop and before the concert, WAMA is hosting a potluck meet and greet.
“Music lovers and fellow musicians alike sing songs of praise about Richard Smith,” WAMA stated in a news release. “With fretboard fireworks and lyrical endeavors, he will melt your heartstrings, make your toes tap and your jaws hang open. Richard’s music encompasses classical Bach to Beatles pop. It includes Scott Joplin rags, Souza marches, Chopin and fiddle tunes. It ranges from jazz standards to Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed and Django Reinhardt’s gypsy swing, along with his own intriguing originals. He delivers both lightning-fast barnburners and beautiful ballads, while spicing them with wonderful vocals.”
Visit the Washington Acoustic Music Association website, wamamusic.com, to see a Richard Smith performance of “The Entertainer” on YouTube. Tickets for the concert are $20 per person and the workshop costs $35 per person. Tickets can be purchased on the website. Tickets will also be available at the door.
