The Black Hills boys basketball team capped a 2-0 weekend at Holiday Hoops on the Hill on Saturday with another close win, beating La Conner 44-42.
The Wolves (4-7, 1-2 2A EvCo), who came into the weekend in Seattle without a win in three weeks, earned their two victories by a total of three points.
Talon Morrill led a balanced scoring effort with 10 points, while Simon Nysted scored nine and Quinton Morrill and Jack Ellison both had eight.
The Wolves trailed by a point after the first quarter and only managed one bucket in the second, but did enough defensively to keep the hole at four points come halftime in a low-scoring affair. It only took eight minutes to dig themselves out of the ditch, and they pulled off another hold-on job late to seal the win.
Ellison earned tournament MVP honors, while Talon Morrill also made the all-tournament team.
Black Hills will return to 2A EvCo action next Tuesday, against Rochester.
