It was a nearly perfect start for the Black Hills softball team on Thursday, as the Wolves topped 3A Capital 12-2 at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey.
Kailey Miller gave the Wolves (1-0) the lead in the first with a two-run home run, and Black Hills added two more in the second to extend its lead to 4-0.
The Wolves added four in the fourth and two in the fifth before finishing the day off with two more in the seventh.
Ella Goheen pitched a complete game, allowing seven hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out seven.
Madi Mounts and Madi Malone both had multiple hits at the plate, going 2-5.
Black Hills will hit the road again on Monday, heading south to take on Tenino.
