Wolves Bounce Back to Down Highclimbers

After dropping a one-run contest to Shelton Tuesday, the Black Hills baseball team found its offensive groove in a 7-4 win over the Highclimbers Wednesday afternoon back home.

The Wolves went blow-for-blow with the Highclimbers early, but separated thanks to a two-spot in the fourth, building a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Max Johnson had a three-hit day at leadoff, scoring three runs, and Xander Shepler knocked in three runs on a single base knock. Mark Otto added a 2 for 4 line with a run scored at the plate.

On the mound, Wolves’ starter Brayden Golder ran into trouble with walks, but found ways to limit runs with a strong collective defensive effort. Golder went the first four innings, giving up three runs, with two earned, on three hits and six walks. He also struck out two. Truman Wimsett stepped in to pitch a pair of innings, allowing one earned run on two hits and two walks, and Parker Termini earned the save, pitching a scoreless seventh.

The Wolves will play Centralia on Friday at Ed Wheeler Field for their next contest.
