It got a little close for comfort, but the Winlock boys basketball team held off Toutle Lake for a 56-51 win on Wednesday.

The Cardinals led by just three after one, but pushed their lead to 12 with a strong second.

Toutle Lake’s offense found a rhythm in the second half, scoring 32 points after scoring just 18 in the first half, and Winlock was able to do enough to hold on for the win.

Landen Cline led the way with 26 points, six assists, and five steals, while Arean Thapa scored 12 points and Freddy Patching scored five.

Jaxyn Pelagio scored four while also adding seven rebounds and four assists, and Mason Ruiz tallied four points and came down with nine rebounds.

Winlock (7-11, 5-9 C2BL) is now just a half-game back of Onalaska for fifth in the C2BL standings, and they are a game and a half up on Mossyrock, which is in seventh.

The Cardinals will head to Rainier on Friday before returning home for their regular season finale on Monday against Napavine.
