The losing drought is over. Winlock notched its first win of the season, a 56-49 victory over visiting South Bend in a non-league matchup on Friday.

The Cardinals ended a 20-game losing streak with the win and finish the season 1-20 overall.

It didn’t look promising at the beginning for the Cards as they fell behind 13-9 in the first quarter. But Winlock recovered and outscored South Bend in each of the final three quarters to secure the victory.

Payton Sickles led all scorers with 17 points, while Chase Scofield added 16 and Caleb Richendollar and Cole Fray-Parmantier chipped in eight points apiece.

Winlock shot 17 of 43 on the night, as South Bend shot 11 of 37.

Isaac Ramirez was the lone Cardinal senior playing in his final high school game.
