W.F. West’s Drea Brumfield Named 2A EvCo MVP

W.F. West junior Drea Brumfield was named the 2A Evergreen Conference MVP and three other Bearcats earned all-league honors as announced by the league Tuesday morning.

Brumfield averaged 17.4 points, 8.9 rebounds and 4.8 blocks per game while leading the Bearcats to a 16-1 overall record — which included a 16-game winning streak — and a second-place finish at the 2A District 4 tournament.

Junior point guard Kyla McCallum earned first-team honors after averaging 6.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 3.4 steals per game.

Senior guard Madi Mencke and junior guard Lexi Roberts were both selected to the second team. Mencke, known for her vice-grip defense, averaged 9.6 points, 4.2 steals and three assists per game.

Rochester’s Madison Bates was named to the second team and teammate Sofie Sand earned honorable mention.

All seven coaching staffs received the Coaching Staff of the Year award.
