Seven runs in the bottom of the first gave the Bearcats an early lead and they never looked back on their way to a 13-1, five-inning victory over the Wolves in an Evergreen Conference tilt on Friday in Chehalis.
Now at six straight wins, W.F. West (16-2, 11-1 EvCo) will attempt to get back into contention for a regular season title with the first of two straight games against Tumwater, starting on Monday in South Thurston County.
Four of the nine hit by pitches the Bearcats finished with came in the first. Leadoff hitter Deacon Meller was plunked four times, scored three runs, stole two bases and drove in a run. They added two runs in the third and a four-spot in the fourth to enact the run-rule.
Carlos Vallejo drove in three runs while Tucker Land recorded an RBI triple for W.F. West. Weston Potter drove in two runs and drew two walks.
Black Hills (2-12, 1-11) lit up the scoreboard first on a bases-loaded walk by Jake Tinsley. Blain Thomas registered the only hit for the Wolves, who open a two-game series versus Shelton that starts on Monday.
