W.F. West High School Student Works as Page in House

W.F. West High School student Rowan Robinson traveled to Olympia the week of Feb. 13-17 to serve as a page in the state House of Representatives, sponsored by Rep. Stephanie McClintock.

During his time in Olympia, Robinson attended page school for the entire week to learn how the Legislature functions. He also worked in several buildings on the Capitol campus while delivering messages and documents to legislators and staff. Additionally, Robinson assisted representatives on the House floor and spent time helping McClintock, R-Vancouver, with some of her legislative duties.

"It was a pleasure to sponsor Rowan in the House Page Program. I enjoyed working with him and wish him the best," McClintock said. "This is a great opportunity for our young people. It gives them an inside view of our state government and how it works."

Robinson enjoys weightlifting, entrepreneurship and screen-printing in his free time.

Each year, students from around Washington apply to participate in the House Page Program. To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16 and obtain written permission from their parents and school.

Pages earn $50 per day while serving in the program.
