The Centralia College volleyball and women’s soccer teams both picked up wins over the weekend, as the volleyball team swept Tacoma 25-23, 28-26, 25-14 on Friday, and the women’s soccer team defeated South Puget Sound 3-1 on Saturday.
Meleseini Hutchings led the volleyball team with 14 digs and 13 kills, Jada Whitmore hit double-digits with 10 kills, and Cadence Gumanas led the defensive effort with 15 digs.
Avery Starr had another stellar day facilitating the offense, tallying 28 assists while also logging seven digs and six kills.
Maylania Mikaele opened the scoring in the soccer game with a goal in the sixth minute, and Krysta Hook added two goals later in the first half.
Kate Wisnewski, Anna Souja, and Sadie Loewen each had an assist.
Isabelle Harley-Bianquini had five saves in net.
Both teams will host their next matchups on Wednesday. The volleyball team (13-7, 2-1 NWAC) will face Highline, while the women’s soccer team (3-1-2, 2-1-2 NWAC) welcomes Tacoma.
Men’s soccer loses against Highline
The Centralia College men’s soccer team also hosted Highline on Saturday, but the Trailblazers fell 4-1.
The Trailblazers fell behind 3-0 in the first 19 minutes, and though Mario Silva Gutierrez got CC on the board in the 38th minute, Highline added on another early in the second half to extend the deficit back to three.
CC (1-10, 1-5 NWAC) will head to Tacoma on Wednesday to face the Titans.
