Warriors Pull Away From Tigers

The Rochester baseball team won its fourth road game in a row Tuesday, taking out Centralia 12-4 at Wheeler Field in a 2A EvCo matchup.

Centralia plated two runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead, but the Warriors held them off the scoreboard for five innings after that. Hyde Parrish went 4 ⅔ innings for Rochester, and Henry Gramelspacher and Jyson O’Connor got the Warriors the rest of the way.

As soon as the Tigers scored, Rochester found its own offense, scoring two runs in both the second and third innings, another in the fourth, and five in the fifth, before adding two in the seventh to get the lead up to 10 runs before Centralia got two back in the final frame.

“They continued to score, and we did not,” Centralia coach Jake LeDuc said. “The second, third, and fourth, we didn’t do much at the plate. The fifth and sixth, we got baserunners but couldn’t get the timely hit.”

Tate Quarnstrom went 3 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI for Rochester. Braden Hartley went 3 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs, while Mason Ubias had two doubles of his own.

Mason Miller went 4 ⅓ innings in a spot start for Centralia, striking out five and allowing eight hits and four walks.

“We gave Marcus a chance to see what he could do,” LeDuc said. “He was good into the fifth inning, until they busted it open that inning.”

Carlos Vallejo went 2 for 4 for the Tigers, and Landon Jenkins knocked in a pair of runs.

The Tigers and Warriors will play at Rochester on Wednesday.
