In another matchup against a Greater St. Helens foe, the Rochester softball team fell on the road Tuesday afternoon to Ridgefield, 5-2.

The Warriors were virtually neck-and-neck with the Spudders all afternoon, save for a third inning spurt that saw the Spudders hit three solo home runs to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Outside of that inning, Rochester starter Layna Demers pitched a complete game and was steady, giving up seven hits, allowing five runs with four earned, and striking out three. Jessa Lenzi was 2 for 3 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI, Kassidy Byrd added a 1 for 3 line with an RBI, and Kaylee Demers went 1 for 3.

The Warriors open 2A Evergreen Conference play on Friday on the road in Aberdeen at 4:30 p.m. for their next game.
