Things went quickly south for the Rochester boys basketball team on Thursday, as the Warriors fell into an early hole and never recovered in a 70-38 loss to Castle Rock.
“They just played at a different speed than we did from the get go,” Rochester coach Caleb Sells said. “We had a good idea of what we wanted to do against the press, but once the pressure hit, the game plan went out the window.”
The Warriors fell into a 20-point hole in the first quarter, and the deficit was up to 25 by halftime. They turned the ball over 21 times on the night, while Castle Rock shot 51 percent from the floor, including a 20 for 27 mark on two-point field goals.
“If you made a mistake in coverage, they made you pay for it,” Sells said. “It made for a tough night.”
The Warriors (0-4) will look to bounce back in Aberdeen on Saturday.
