The Rochester baseball team went across the mountains for spring break but couldn’t come back with a win, losing to Ellensburg 11-7 on Tuesday.

In a game that featured just three scoreless frames, it came to Ellensburg’s big innings hitting harder than Rochester’s. Both sides scored single runs in the second, third, and sixth innings, but while the Bulldogs dropped five in the first and three in the fourth, the Warriors scored just two in both the first and fifth.

Hayden Pietras went 2 for 3 with a walk, and behind him, Hyde Parrish was 2 for 2 with two walks, a double, and four RBIs. Hank Gramelspacher added a double and drove in a run, while Mason Ubias was 1 for 3 with two runs scored.

Ben Johnson gave up seven runs in three innings of work to take the loss for Rochester, allowing seven hits and striking out two. Gramelspacher allowed three more runs in two innings of relief, and Jyson O’Connor gave up one unearned run in the sixth.

Rochester will get back to 2A EvCo action Friday, going to Black Hills to open a two-game set.
