The Rochester boys golf team dropped a close matchup against Elma on Monday at Riverside, where the Warriors fell 206-213 to the Eagles.

Wesley Dahl led the Warriors with a 51, while Clayton Knutson, Bo Grimm, and Darin Ware came in at 53, 54, and 55, respectively. Cash Edminster rounded out the Rochester scorecard with a 61.

Elma’s Cole Niemi finished as the match medalist with a 50.

“It was our first truly rainy day of the season and that showed on the scorecards,” Rochester coach Brian Keese said. “Both coaching staff were proud of how the golfers gritted it out to finish in tough conditions.”

Keese commended Kohlton Wayland for his JV round, as he was the only player from either team to break 50 with a 48.

“It was a big improvement over his last couple matches,” Keese said. “I'm glad to see him getting back into form.”

Rochester will head to Oaksridge to face Montesano next Monday, Oct. 6.
