Vikings Dispatch Trojans in Three

The Mossyrock volleyball team kept things rolling in league play, downing Pe Ell 25-7, 25-9, 25-11 on Tuesday.

Payton Torrey put up 15 kills to lead Mossyrock, while also posting seven aces and 13 digs. Paige Houghtelling was right on her heels at the net, posting 13 kills. Abbie Lovan led the back row with 19 digs, and also had six aces of her own.

Erin Cournyer dished out 22 assists, while Caelyn Marshall had 14; both of Mossyrock’s setters also served up three aces.

Hailey Brooks added 10 digs, and also posted four kills.

Charlie Carper served 100% for Pe Ell, and also had three kills and four blocks.

“We knew tonight was going to be very tough,” Trojans coach Eddi Peterson said. “We have a good serving team so we focused on continuing that and only missed two serves. We didn’t walk out of the gym hanging our heads afterwards. The girls were very happy with how they played and they had fun.”

Pe Ell (2-4) will host Naselle on Thursday, while Mossyrock (9-0) will take on Willapa Valley on the road next Tuesday.
