Payton Torrey hit the go-ahead shot with two minutes left and Caelynn Marshall sealed the victory with a steal and breakaway layup with 11 seconds remaining as Mossyrock came back from an eight-point deficit to defeat Rainier 37-34 on the road Thursday in non-league play.

Rainier set the tone early with Faith Boesch drilling a bank 3-pointer to hit the Vikings early.

“We started off rough but fought our way back,” Mossyrock coach Autumn Moorcroft said. “We just have some things to work on; executing offensively.”

Boesch scored a team-high 12 points, while Isabella Holmes had a game-high 11 rebounds and Acacia Murphy tallied 10 rebounds.

Rainier won the rebounding battle 32-28. Mossyrock shot 1 for 6 from long range while Rainier was 4 for 23 from deep. The Vikings connected on 6 of 9 shots from the charity stripe.
