Vigil Set to Mark 16 Years Since Unsolved Murder of Thurston County Woman

Posted

Sunday, Jan. 22, will mark the 16th anniversary of the day Karen Bodine, a 37-year-old mother of three from Thurston County, was found dead on the shoulder of Littlerock Road Southwest.

To mark the tragic occasion and raise awareness for the ongoing investigation into Bodine’s death, Bodine’s friends and family will hold an evening vigil Jan. 22 at the site where Bodine’s body was found.

People are invited to stop by for however long they want, be that a couple minutes or a couple hours, or simply drive by and honk.

Authorities have ruled Bodine’s cause of death strangulation but have not made an arrest in the case in the 16 years since her body was found.

The case has been featured on multiple true-crime podcasts and TV shows, including the Netflix reboot of “Unsolved Mysteries” and Investigation Discovery’s show “Still a Mystery.”

Bodine’s eldest child, Karlee Odin, continues to operate the Facebook page “Justice For Karen Bodine: My Mother's Unsolved Homicide Investigation,” which is dedicated to raising awareness for Bodine’s case in the hopes that someone with information that could aid the investigation will come forward.

Anyone with information pertaining to the investigation is encouraged to contact the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office at 360-786-5500 or Crime Stoppers of South Sound at 800-222-TIPS (8477).

There is a reward available for those with information on the case that helps lead to an arrest.
