Veterans Memorial Museum Hosting Drive-In Movie, Memorial Day Event

Posted

This Saturday, the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis will host its first “Movies By The Dashboard Light” event. The first of many movies shown by the museum on the last Saturday of the month, this outdoor movie will be a throwback to drive-in movie theaters.

Attendees, who will be admitted by donation to the museum, can choose to throw a blanket on the grass in front of the screen or stay in their car and listen to the movie via FM radio.

Popcorn, cold drinks and candy will be served.

The annual Veteran Memorial Museum Memorial Day service will be held at the museum on Memorial Day, May 31. The service, which is fully open to the public, will be held outside at 1 p.m.

The museum’s “Tree of Life” display, which is made up of dog tags of local veterans, will also be shown outside. Names on the Tree of Life will be read following the service.

The museum’s Memorial Day service is typically held at Claquato Cemetery. This year, the gathering will instead be held at the museum. Boy Scouts will still be placing flags on the graves of veteran’s at Claquato, and the cemetery will still be open for Memorial Day.
